Zit myths!?

Already the 11th. 19 days left till the release of my results. Pretty worried, I've gotta admit, yet that shouldn't be holding me back from enjoying my truly long holidays. Suddenly, I'm being all negative. Been tired and sleepy all day long, all because of the loss of blood this morning. Yeap, went for a blood test. Gave away some old, not so thick blood to the medical center. Since then, I just feel so light, and weak. Haha, recovery! Recovery! Recovery! And given that I slept only for 3 and a half hours yesterday, I'm all used up this weekend. Very much related to that, my once better skin is breaking out again. I see zits, blackheads and whiteheads everywhere. Argh... My bitch gonna call be vain again, which I'm not denying. No point doing that, when everyone knows. Anyway, talking about zits, there are so many myths revolving around it, that I came across this article that I want to share with y'all. By the way, I'm summarising everything okay?

Mud mask

Cosmetics, drugs such as lithium, and genetics also contribute to an individual's zit potential.Oily skins will make it worse! Moreover, scrubbing away at spotty skin too frequently may worsen the skin condition.


Chocolate and fries

We always blame chocolate, candy bars and greasy foods for the cause of acne, and drinking a lot of water helps... but the fact is that...

"A number of studies in the 1960's and 70's set out to debunk the idea that what you eat pops up on your face. Today dermatologists agree that the experiments were not conducted well.

Recently, research has shown that drinking milk may modestly increase the risk of acne. However, the story on diet is still evolving.

"The role of diet is not yet clear," Kendall told LiveScience. "The overall effect of diet on acne is not real big, but it's something we need to study more. But we're not talking about too much chocolate or too many fries.""

As for drinking water, evidence is yet to be found.


Treatments

Dermatologists have an arsenal of treatments that can help.

Ingredients in over-the-counter soaps and lotions can do the trick for some skin. (For some skin only?!). Antibiotics and vitamin A derivatives might be prescribed too! Ooo... consistency is the key to cure tarnishing skin.

One last piece of advice: Do listen to your mother when she tells you to keep your hands off your face.

Oh no she didn't! For goodness sake, Tyra's in porn? Yeap, the Tyra I meant is Tyra Banxxx and not Tyra Banks. Being a successful supermodel-cum-TV-host, Tyra is just so famous elsewhere too, negatively. Born on 25th January 1985, Alana Andersen, Banxxx's real name, shot her very first film when she was only 19. Standing at just 5'5", guess she had a head start in her career is a TB impersonator. She does have the looks though, but does she really resembles Tyra Banks? Judge it yourself...

2006 is definitely a rough year for young superstar, Hilary Duff. After enjoying a streak of success in commercials, movies and music, she has yet to deliver any heatwaves this year. Material Girls flung badly at the box office, while her 2 singles failed to chart internationally. Out of the 2 singles, only the video for the latter single, Play With Fire was shot. The video is so boring, that it ironically brought snow during summer. Potong stim. Nevertheless, with the disco beats blended into the song, it's not half bad afterall. Opened and Flushed Away.

Hello folks! I'm officially back. The first 3 papers that I sat for was reasonably tough. I miss blogging. yet I'm worried of my results which will be released on the 30th oh November. Have 1 more to go, which is on next Wednesday. At the mean time, I have been enjoying myself a lot these days since Thursday. Been spending lots of money, that I'm going broke even before the start of my year end 4 months holidays. Damn. Gotta scratch out some money from every corners - parents, bank, savings can, etc.

Saw a couple of movies over te past few weeks. First up, Open Season. Animated movies always work on me. Open Season reflects the need of animals to live in their natural habitat, which could be the big message being conveyed to audiences. Watching the scene where the owner had to let go of her beloved bear back into the forest made my eyes soppy. It dug out the memories of me with Cici, my dog which I miss very much, but given away after my niece was born. I wonder where is she now, and how she's doing. :( Anyway, I rate the movie a **** out of 5.

Then, I can't believe I fell into the trap to watch this nicely posterized, but badly plotted Swedish movie, Frostbiten. The technical problem I had in the cinema during the beginnign of the show added to the disappointment. The story is bad, and the ending sucks big time. The only eye grabber in the movie is the amound of blood splashed to make the movie gory, although it might be shoddy compared to other all time favorites. For that, it deserves a lonely star, the 2nd movie to receive the lowest ratings from me to date.

Next, I saw Inner Senses, a chinese horro flick starring Leslie Cheung and Karena Lam which was released a few years ago. It released quite some hype across Asia, which I thought simply means that the movie delivers good nerve frecking moments. At least be haunting. That's all I wish for from a ghost movie. Finishing the movie was an accomplishment, given the situation in Orang Utan's house. Overall, the opening was rather above average, before slumping throughout the suspense. Climax was short, and the movie closed right at expectations. Okay, enough has been said. **1/2.

Whilst Anne Hathaway gets much credit from her fantastic performance in The Devil Wears Prada, little had known that she actually starred in an explicit film which was only released into a niche market last year. In Havoc, the life of gangsterism and the obstacles and predicaments of what the social faces today is portrayed. Anne, one again, blew me away with her convincing acting and also her defining beauty. Expect to see more of her skin in this movie. General rating: ***.

Lastly, Flushed Away is another movie not to be missed, featuring voice overs by Hugh Jackman and Kate Winslet. The storyline is simple, filled with effective jokes that will blow one away. Although, the rats are adorably drawn, the spotlite goes to the worms that adds a lot of flavors and spices to the film through their well choreographed singing performances. Had a good laugh, and a good stress reduction session. Similar to OS, another **** movie.

13th, Friday.

It's Friday the 13th. Believed to be one of the baddest days after the 6th of the month, nothing evil happened today at all. Even though everyone should be busy preparing for exam right now, my bitches and I still found some excess time to spend on movie. Yeap. We saw World Trade Center today. With over expectations, the movie turned out to be rather boring. Had a tough time giving my full concentration, and also at maintaining my consicousness. Halfway through the movie, control was lost and I fell asleep for quite a while. Nevertheless, the movie truly shows the pain brought about by the 911 attack. On top of that, it's the promise of hope and survival to the nation. Well, hard to rate such a movie. But I think 2.5 out of 5 is already more than enough.

Talking about movies, I also saw Silk, a chinese sci-fi horror movie produced in Taiwan with both Taiwanese and Japanese stars. Karena Lam, Chen Bo Lin, Big S are some of them. This film comes across in between of Recycle and Dorm, depicting the bond between ghosts and human and how human exploits and take advantage of them in order to achieve certain dreams that's unreachable at this state of the world. The movie is quite short, with a tight plot that leaves not much gaps in between. A movie of ***1/2 to me. Anyway, the boy in the movie is pretty cute for his age.

A murder story. Just a few days ago, my sister saw him in my room but she did not do anything. She was scared of him as I am too. Then, he disappeared. I met him again yesterday. There was a rush of hatred, anger and will to kill. He's just so annoying. He's dirty. He's scary. Although we slept 'together' for a few nights, there was no passion between. It's over. I had to kill him. I couldn't stand a sight of him anymore. Die. Die. He suffered a few minutes of agony before passing out. The poison wasn't strong enough to kill him instantly. Damn. This morning, he's finally completely dead in my bathroom. Yes, the cockroach is dead at last.

Other than that, nothing much had been happening to me. Oh, no more assignments for the rest of the semester. Yeah! That's one thing worth celebrating this weekend.

Sugar content.

Have you guys ever wondered the amount of sugar added into some of the products that is consumed frequently by the public? I got this from a chinese newspaper brought home by my mom weeks ago. The result is shocking and health-threatening. Although the accuracy of the test is questionable, yet the percentages published will more or less assist us in our future consumerism and production.

Oh no, such high level of sugar in 2 of my favorite products. Maybe I can choose not to eat cereals anymore, but I certainly can't survive without ketchup.


Milo! I guess it's not that bad after water is added.


But if condensed milk is added once again, the level of sugar soars in just a cup of Milo.

DeepaRaya is coming.

Damn it. My streamyx was down for a couple of days since Thursday. Had a rather hard time surviving those boring moments at home, so I found myself outside most of the time just to kill time, and of course to spend some quality time with my boos. This is not the first service interruption this year. As far as I can recall, this should be the fourth or fifth time. It's irritating. Somebody should seriously lodge a complaint.

In just a glimpse Mooncake Festival is already over and done while the nation is busy preparing for DeepaRaya. First week of October has also became history which means my final examination is drawing closer. I'm certainly not ready, but preparation will commence soon I guess. After my final assignment. Yes, there is still one more to go. It has been quite an achievement so far for this semester as to date I've completed 13 assignments and 3 tests. Hell yeah!

Another thing that is bothering me besides school work is the environment lately. Although I missed the terrible haze last year, I'm not so fortunate this time around. Coming out of the campus on Thursday delievered a shock to me as I see Sunway being covered by thick haze. Since then, it jsut got worse except for yesterday when a heavy rain during late midnight more or less cleared the sky by morning. However, it returned to 'status quo' again today.
