The new campus (under construction).

Had an adventurous experience outside of the new campus of Monash which is still under construction but seems to be completed soon before the 2nd half of the year so that WE, could move in during our second semester in July. Hopefully the construction will meet its own deadline, without requiring any extra extension periods. I'm eager to move, since I don't really like it in the current campus. I think its rather dim everywhere, and too army base influenced, like I've mentioned ages ago.

Anyway, here are 2 shots that I took while I was in the compound of the new Monash.

Not quite sure if that's going to be just another roundabout. But a fountain will be cool.

There there, it's all new!

Anyway, I was in the club the other day and took this priceless picture. It shows how a person fires up the dancefloor when nobody is doing it.

A day after watching Forest of Death, I came across these pictures of Shu Qi. Is she working on the squint on her eyes or has she too many work jobs lining up resulting in lack of sleep?

Forest of Death

Was out for another preview screening yesternight after winning 2 passes from Cinema Online. This time, it's for Forest of Death which stars the sexy Shu Qi as an officer, the charming Ekin Cheng as a botanist and the rather alien looking Rain Li as his girlfriend turned wife. Since it was promoted as another film brought to us by the Pang Brothers, the same brothers who delievered spectacular job in both The Eye and The Eye 2, FOD is nowhere near both the horrific movies. In fact, it's not justifiable to compare them. FOD is a movie on its own, with a unique script and mystery to be solved.

Overall, the movie turned out well to me. The suspense, the thrills and the humor at some minimal strung together a watchable, entertaining piece of work, with unquestionable acting by the experienced artists. It's great seeing Shu Qi again, as I do like watching her on the screens. She might have the accent going on, but she's sizzling hot! As a whole, I shall award this movie ***1/2. :3

Partial Synopsis from GSC

There is a notorious forest adjacent to Mt. Fuji that attracts many young people to commit suicide every year. According to one local report, most of their bodies had never been found. The story begins in this mysterious forest where a criminal has abducted the Prime Minister’s daughter. He took the girl to the forest, where he raped and murdered her. After a dedicated investigation, a suspect, ERIC, was soon arrested. However, the prosecution has been unable to prove his guilt, due to insufficient forensic evidence. No DNA proof can be obtained since a condom was used during the intercourse.

Steven is a student of botany who has written his doctorate paper on the theory that “Plants Are Sentient Creatures’. He spends all his time and effort trying to prove that plants have feelings, and even language. Steven’s theory soon gains worldwide attention. Both media and academics come all the way to Japan to meet and interview Steven. Seizing this opportunity, Steven proposes to take his apparatus and the murder suspect to the crime scene forest and conduct the experiment. The purpose is to obtain the testimony of the only eyewitness: the forest itself. He can further analyze the signals collected in an effort to determine whether or not the suspect is guilty.

Will the experiment succeed this time? Will the mystery of forest be disclosed to the public through the media reporting???

Zhang Zi Yi

Whilst running a search browsing for a front beauty shot of Gong Li, I stumbled through some bits of her "rival" in the industry, Zhang Ziyi. Even though Gong Li is still getting most of the movie contracts, as we've seen her in Curse of the Golden Flowers, Miami Vice, for example and in the upcoming Hannibal Rising. On the other hand, Zhang Ziyi is filming a new film, called the Horsemen if I'm not wrong. Both of them are pretty, while Ziyi beats Gong under the age factor. The rising star has also been voted as China's most successful woman. Here's the article of almost a month old.

Zhang Ziyi China´s Most Successful Woman [source]

Zhang Ziyi has been crowned China's most successful woman, after 31,439 netizens voted for her in a national poll conducted by Sohu.com and fashion magazine "Bazaar".

The voters say they voted for Zhang because of her successful acting career and growing reputation in the international film industry. They praised her for being smart, confident, independent and ambitious.

Actress Zhao Wei ran second in the poll. Most netizens think she transformed herself into a mature, intellectual modern woman after she returned to film school in 2006.

Super girl Li Yuchun weighed in as China's third most successful woman. Pop queen Faye Wong, hostess Yang Lan, model Lv Yan and actresses Maggie Cheung, Gong Li, Zhang Jingchu and Sun Li also ranked in the top 10.

So just watch out GL, ZY is going to kick your butt with a hard bang. Anyway, here are some pictures of her in a random magazine promoting a handbag and realizing her dream it seemed.

Vicki Vicki!

Is goth a fashion or fad? It comes and go every now and then. The next victim of this dark, sultry eyes complimented with dark funky attire culture is none other than "triple threat" Vicki Zhao, who was once bald, as seen in Kung Fu Soccer. With all the controversy around her for all these while, it's absolutely refreshing for her to edge out, and have an image transformation to fit in the crowd. Without any doubts, I'm so inluv with her new look.

Lost in Time

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketLost in Time is such a long whining story but an effective and marvelous one that reflects how life obstacles can lead to a wonderful ending. In this movie, Cecilia Cheung plays the role of a lady that met her soon to be husband in a bus that eventually killed him before they got married. For that, Cecilia faced a pretty bad time of her life. Overall, she played an extremely well part on her role, which actually garnered her the Best Actress Award for the Hong Kong equivalent of Oscar. Bravo. However, with a running time of almost 2 hours, I think the movie could have been shortened a little. Y'all know how much I hate movies that plays above an hour and a half.

Partial Synopsis

On a rainy day, Ah Man (Loius Koo) was driving home in his mini-bus licensed DY1314. A truck in the opposite lane lost control and crashed into Ah Man's mini-bus. Dai Fai (Lau Ching Wan), who was driving past the scene in another mini-bus, stopped immediately and tried to save Ah Man, who unfortunately was killed. Ah Man's newly wed Siu Wai (Cecilia Cheung) was stunned by the bad news when she was waiting for him at the station! Hit by the bad news, Siu Wai knew she still had to go on living, especially when there was Lok Lok, the son of Ah Man and his ex-wife Ah Shan. Siu Wai was determined to conceal her pain and stay with Lok Lok. Looking back when she decided to marry Ah Man, her family was strongly against their union. Now, her family again opposed to her raising the child. However, Siu Way had made up her mind. Ah Man's mini-bus DY1314 was special to Siu Wai and she insisted to have it repaired, regardless of the costs. She even decided to become a mini-bus driver herself...

Back to Skool?!

Revisit School Day. Since I've left school, I could hardly miss a chance to get my ass back to my old school where I completed my Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary education. This year is not an exception as well, as I just went to the International Food Fair held by the SSG-ians. Going back to school thrills me. I saw everything there and I went like, oh my gosh, it's still the same or wow, it's so nice now. The school hasn't changed much then except that the canteen has been renovated, and the field now has a concrete pedestrian path.

Saw quite a few teachers that has taught me there. Ms. Khoo was the first. Being our only basic economics teacher back in Form 4 and 5, she still looks the same, and even sound the same. Ah, miss her classes. Then, bumped into Pn. Munap, our PE teacher. Despite her age, she's still vibrant, and energetic which is great. Saw a few more although many weren't there, which is rather saddening because I thought that we could have at least met En. Iskhandar, Mr. Wong or Mr. Rama. Perhaps next time I guess. Anyway, here are almost all the pictures taken there. Enjoy ~

T-Rex: Back to the Cretaceous

The almighty, gigantic and carnivorous T-Rex is back! Equivalent to a Lion, it's also a King on its own in the dinosaur era, as far as I put it. You won't find the movie, "T-Rex: Back to the Cretaceous" anywhere except Imax Theatre, Times Square (10th Floor). So, it was my first time there too, getting to watch it on one of the biggest screens in the whole of Asia right here in TS. The interior of the place is comfy and relaxing yet with some elements of class and sophistication. Price of a ticket is at RM15, with movie durations ranging from 45 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes I think. Here's the catch, some shows are only shown once everyday, so it's rather difficult to watch shows that are scheduled for morning or afternoon only.

So, what are my thoughts for the movie. Running time of 45 minutes, it's pretty short and infact, too short. Even though most ideas are arranged systematically to put together a movie like that, expectations exceeded the real performance. However, not exactly disappointingly the movie did entertain right above the minimal line. The best part of the movie, tracking after T-Rex. Worst scenario - when the dinosaurs aren't alive. Boring... **/5

Going short...

Makeover day. Was sick of having long hair for a while now, so I'd finally chopped down most of it last weekend. Getting mixed comments ever since, here's how I've changed.

Bar-B-Q Plaza

Thursday has been officially declared as the "Hang-Out Day" for the Fantastic Five. Unfortunately, for the past 2 weeks, only the Monkey Family celebrated it in Sunway Pyramid. And here we are, in Bar-B-Q Plaza having our lunch. Note: It was my first time in that restaurant which uses Thai steamboat as their main attraction. Have heard about it from Julia that it's healthy and quite tasty. After having a try on the Beef Supreme Set, I have to admit that the food is just quite average, BUT the fried bacon is a must try (rather delicious!). Okay, haven't much to say actually. And here are the pictures!
