The girls remaining as of episode 9 were brough to interview class, with April (cycle 2) and comedian, Gary Riotto. Jaslene had a pretty much tough time with her interview whilst Jael and Dionne got the atmosphere heated up. The very next day, Tyra announced, in a kangaroo costume, that the girls will be flying to Australia! Natasha screamed the hell out of her lungs.
Arriving in Australia, they had no time to rest and was put to a challenge in being a correspondent for the Tyra Bank's Show in Australia. Here's the twist, not only that they had to interview Aussies, they had to use the Australian slang as well such as avro "afternoon", yanks "Americans", dank "funny person". The winner was Natasha, who did a really good job and was certainly the best amongst all of them.
In that week's photo shoot, it was replaced by a commercial shoot for CoverGirl. Once again, they had to do the commercial in true blue Aussie accent, in which most of them, indeed, tried their best with only 2 girls struggled hardly with it. Their screen caps are as follows:
Natasha surprised the judges.
Dionne fell rather flat.
Doesn't Jaslene look like Janice Dickinson?
Renee dedicated it to Steve Irwin.
Jael, didn't strike me as a CoverGirl model.
Brittany actually looked sharp, but I didn't save it at the right moment.
The captures say a lot. Could you guess who left? Looks like I was right. Here's Tyra's call-out order (which aligned to my own call-out order as well):
Let's not hold on any farther. In each cycle, the girls had to sell themselves to designers who will judge them from their personality, cat-walk and portfolio. This cycle has no exception to go-sees. Unlike last cycle where the girls had to look for the designers using a map and by foot, the 5 girls were luckier to have cab-drivers to drive them around. However, 2 girls were late and were disqualified - poor Natasha and Brittany. If you have watched episode 1, Brittany did mention that she speaks at a loud voice constantly and yes, it was proven here when she was emotional and depressed over her disqualification from the challenge. Anyhow, Jaslene emerged as the challenge winner (which was her first!). She picked Dionne to share the reward which is expanding their portfolios by shooting on top of Sydney Harbor Bridge by Nigel Barker.
As the competition progressed, they went to their eleventh photo shoot. This time around, they had to pose in bikinis, but, wait, Tyra never gives them easy tasks. So, what they had to do was to come out with 2 covers, one for men's magazine and the other for women's magazine. Tyra had been stressing on the versatility and ability of a top model to pose differently for the two types of magazines. Her previous tips included legs wide open for men's magazine, closed for women, lean front for men and lean back for women, just to name a few. By the way, for the women's mag, Tyra Bank herself was the photographer.
Brittany vs. Brittany. I like her men's magazine.
Danielle vs. Dionne. Wait, that's Dionne!
Jaslene vs. Jaslene. I love both! :3
Natasha vs. Natasha. I like her women's magazine.
Renee vs. Renee. I like 'em both too!
